DHS Secretary Mayorkas’ visit to Mexico

On February 2, 2021, Alejandro Mayorkas became the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary. The DHS functions as an American counterpart for the Mexican Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit; the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and the Secretariat of the Interior. On June 14, 2021, DHS Secretary Mayorkas visited Mexico during his first international trip as Secretary. During this visit, Secretary Mayorkas met with Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrad; Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez; Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, Arturo Herrera Gutiérrez; Attorney General, Alejandro Gertz Manero; and the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico.
Secretary Mayorkas’ visit to Mexico
On June 15, 2021 there was a meeting between the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, and the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, with the Secretary of National Security of the United States , Alejandro Mayorkas. The meeting was part of the ongoing high-level dialogue that exists between both nations to jointly advance towards orderly, safe, and regular migration. The vision of both governments facing the challenges in migration matters both at the multilateral and regional levels was highlighted.
